Mocha Scarf Crochet Pattern

You are going to love the interesting texture found in this Mocha Scarf crochet pattern! It’s the perfect scarf for autumn and winter!

Crochet scarves are one of my favourite winter accessories to make! They are a great way to learn a new crochet stitch pattern and show off a favourite crochet texture.

The Mocha Scarf crochet pattern does all of this! The stitch pattern featured in this crochet scarf is the Terrain Stitch. It’s a wonderfully easy crochet stitch to work, with lots of texture but that is not too dense. It makes for a very cozy scarf!

How long should a crochet scarf be?

It is really a matter of personal preference, but I love my crochet scarves to be extra long and extra thick. I feel it makes them all the more cozy during our Canadian winters and it means that I can wrap it around a few times or experiment with tying it different ways.

The Mocha Scarf is a generous 90 inches long and 10 inches wide, excluding the fringe. Under the pattern notes you will find some instruction on how to adjust the size to your liking.

What kind of yarn should I use for a crochet scarf?

The sky is the limit when choosing the perfect yarn for your project. I will often gravitate to a wool blend yarn for my scarves as I did for the Sweetheart Scarf Crochet Pattern. For other crochet scarves, such as the Goldenrod Scarf, I go for yarns that are soft and that going to show off a bit of colour. That’s what I went for in the Mocha Scarf!

For this crochet scarf pattern I used the Mandala Bonus Bundle from Lion Brand. There are a variety of colour ways to choose from and they are nice and soft. Having the 1100 yards per yarn cake means that there are no ends to tie in and the colours can do their own thing!

Along with the yarn you will need a 5 mm (H/8) crochet hook. In the video tutorial below you will see me using a Birchwood Crochet Hook my Rowan Yarn.
